Plains game hunting at NTONI takes place across 10,000 hectares of open veld, rocky slopes and natural grazing areas. Our reserve hosts a wide range of species, and therefore hunters can pursue Kudu, Eland, Gemsbok, Wildebeest, Impala, Springbuck and many others throughout the season. Each hunt is guided by a professional hunter who selects mature trophy males and ensures that every shot is ethical and safe. Because our landscape includes valleys, ridges and dense cover, hunters experience clear variety in terrain and distance. The Plains Game Hunting Experience

Plains game hunting follows a steady daily routine that begins before sunrise. Hunters start with coffee and a light bite, then head into the veld with their PH and one or more trackers. As a result, each session focuses on locating the right animal, reading tracks and watching wind patterns. You return to the lodge late morning for breakfast and rest until the afternoon hunt begins. Because plains game move in herds and cover wide distances, hunters often combine vehicle-based glassing with longer stalks on foot. Therefore, you experience calm tracking moments, short climbs, and measured approaches to reach a clean shooting position. Bow hunters may use natural cover or hides, while rifle hunters engage targets at appropriate distances depending on species and terrain.

EXPECTATIONS

What to Expect

Your PH determines which animal is suitable based on age, body condition and trophy quality. Hunters may choose 1:1 or 2:1 guidance. Meanwhile, trackers support the hunt by locating fresh signs and identifying movement patterns across the reserve. After a successful shot, the skinners prepare the carcass for transport and processing. Trophies are handled by the preferred taxidermist, and the meat is sold or donated within the region. Plains game hunting directly supports our conservation work. By selecting mature males and maintaining balanced populations, we protect grazing capacity and prevent overuse of sensitive areas. In addition, hunters contribute to ongoing restoration projects across NTONI, including erosion control, water management and species reintroduction. After each day in the veld, guests unwind at the lodge, enjoy the braai and share the day’s progress. This creates a structured and relaxed rhythm throughout the stay.

We observed plenty of birds and wildlife, and hiking is also a great option. The rooms were clean, and the staff was excellent; they truly make you feel special. Dinners were enjoyable, featuring fresh food from the wood stove grill. Batman took care of the mosquitoes ;)

Landschap is ruig en ongerept met vanaf de toppen van de bergen een prachtig wijds uitzicht over de omgeving. Je bent er echt één met de natuur. Mooie diversiteit van dieren: spring-, bles, waterbokken, elanden, wildebeesten, giraffen, noem maar op. De logde ligt prachtig, ademt "wild", heeft rondom fijne terrassen, een zwembad en binnen een knusse zithoek rondom de braai. Fijne kamers met prachtige, nieuwe badkamers. Maar wat ons verblijf echt onvergetelijk maakte was de staff: Franco en Jean-Marie zorgden er samen met hun team voor dat we ons echt wáánzinnig welkom voelden en dat het ons aan niets ontbrak. Kamers waren elke dag weer smetteloos schoon. Was werd gedaan. Ontbijt, lunch, diner, ook het welkomstdrankje na een drive: alles even superverzorgd, gevarieerd en heerlijk van smaak.  Konden echt niet anders dan te beloven terug te komen...

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Na drie nachten Ntoni nu op de luchthaven in laten dalen wat voor prachtig avontuur en omgeving wij bezocht hebben. Een onwerkelijk mooi landschap met prachtige valleien, bergen, vegetatie en een waanzinnig mooi en uitgebreid wildlife. De sfeer van de boerderij (ons slaapverblijf) ademt 150 jaar geschiedenis en Jean-Mari en haar echtgenoot Franco (tevens de ranger) krijgen een 10+ voor hun gastvrijheid. Het eten was bovenverwachting. De gamedrives met Franco zijn onbeschrijfelijk. Deze reis ga ik nooit meer vergeten

Afgelopen zomer maakte ik een rondreis door Zuid-Afrika en hoewel elk landschap indruk maakte, sprong de laatste week er met kop en schouders bovenuit. Mijn verblijf op NTONI Karoo Game Reserve was ronduit onvergetelijk. NTONI is geen doorsnee wildreservaat, de enorme vergezichten, prachtige natuur en de vele wilde beesten maakten van mijn verblijf een TOP verblijf. Tijdens mijn dagelijkse wandelingen stond ik vaak gewoon even stil en genoot van de ongerepte en overweldigend mooie natuur.  Ook zag ik werklui bezig, de eigenaren laten natuurlijke wegen aanleggen en inmiddels zijn bijna 80 waterpoelen gegraven. Deze zomer worden duizenden, vitaminerijke, stekjes geplant waar de wilde dieren heerlijk van kunnen eten. De uitwerkingen van hun grootse plannen, worden iedere maand meer zichtbaar. Gedurende vier dagen mocht ik onder begeleiding deelnemen aan de jacht. Voor het eerst in mijn leven zag ik giraffen en wilde buffels in hun natuurlijke omgeving, heel indrukweekend. De geschoten springbokjes werden de volgende dag door het gastvrije echtpaar dat het reservaat runt op de braai bereid en smaakten voortreffelijk. De brandewijntjes maakten de avond af en zorgden ervoor dat goede gesprekken overgingen in sterke verhalen en veel gelach. Wat was dat gezellig!! Voor wie van de natuur, gastvrijheid en een unieke jachtervaring houdt, kan ik NTONI Karoo Game Reserve van harte aanraden.
